On this journey of creating SantM, I started reading about foot health every day. Plus, I’ve been learning how and why it’s important to take good care of our feet from the shoe craftsmen I’ve met - and telling my friends along the way. Today, I’m launching the SantM Wellness blog as a place to share all I learn with you, too.
I hope you’ll be as fascinated in each foot exercise, anatomy breakdown, and craftsmanship history as I’ve been. My curiosity in foot health really started when I heard from many women that they’d been wearing shoes that hurt their feet for years. I realized that it actually goes much deeper than a little discomfort. Bad shoes can take a real toll on your body. When looking at my mother’s or aunts’ feet or hearing them talk about pain in their hips, I thought that was natural - a process of aging. Now I know, it can all be prevented.
I learned this after meeting with shoe craftsmen, physical therapists, running coaches, professional athletes and podiatrists and, as a result, I built many comfort features into SantM’s shoes. It all comes down to this: Our feet are at the foundation of wellness. Without our feet we can’t go anywhere...literally, so let’s take care of them before it's too late.
My first post is about easy and fun feet exercises like picking up marbles with your feet. As a mom of two, I can tell you there were many moments where I tried to pick things up with my feet. I would have had a little more fun with it if knew I was exercising my toes - and multitasking!
